description Season for Peak Fees: March 1 to November 30, 2015 Moderate ocean temperature at Emma Wood State Beach makes the area a great place for swimming, surfing and fishing. Catches include perch, bass, cabezon and corbina. A freshwater marsh at the southwest end of the beach attract raccoons, songbirds and red-tailed hawks. The beach also features the crumbling ruins of a World War II coastal artillery site. There is a grassy area for groups and a campground for hikers and bikers. The beach offers a view of Anacapa Island - and occasional dolphins. Check the State Parks website for additional information on the weather, suggested day hikes, or to see the park brochure, campground map, park photos, video, and more. drivingDirection Emma Wood State Beach (family campground) is 2 miles west of Ventura via Highway 101 (NORTH of Emma Wood Ventura River Group Camp)! The Group Camp Entrance is at the west end of Main Street in Ventura.

importantInformation Rodent Warning: Park visitors are advised the park is experiencing an increase in the rodent population such as ground squirrels this year. Ground squirrels can damage property and equipment. While we strive to control rodent populations at this campground park visitors who occupy campsites must take precaution to protect their food and equipment. California State Parks is not responsible for damage to personal property. Discount Pass must be presented at the time of check in. Your DMV Disabled Placard/License Plate does not automatically give you a discount on your campsite. You will need to obtain a CA State park-issued Disabled Discount Pass (DDP) or Distinguished Veterans Pass (DVP). Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, additional vehicles will be charged per night at the park. Although your site may hold 2 or more vehicles, your reservation only covers 1 vehicle (except for group or specialty sites). Emma Woods State Beach (family campground) sites are now available on site specific reservations. Family sites accommodate self-contained vehicles ONLY . There is no running water and there is no electricity available to campers. NO TENT CAMPING . All vehicles shall be completely self-contained (built into the unit at time of construction); including kitchen and toilet facilities. Gray water (sink and shower) and Black water (human waste - septic tank) shall be contained and disposed of at an authorized dump station. Vehicles that are not self-contained will not be allowed to enter the park for camping purposes. To book a Group site you must have at least NINE occupants. NO TENT CAMPING on family sites! Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times. Dogs are not permitted on the beach. There are frequent park closures due to high tides, which are common in the winter (October - March).
